Because there is the lush black cover of the forest on the highest hilltop of the sanctuary, so it is known as Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary. Since the hill lies 5 km far from the town of Dalhousie. If you are a trekker, it may take almost one hour to be there. But if you are not a trekker, you may either take a local bus or hire a car or bike. Please keep in mind that the frequency of busses is very low and the timing is also not certain. Another source of transport is pony rides.
